Business Services<br />
Overview<br />
The Business Services Division includes Information Technology, Procurement <strong>and</strong><br />
Supply Chain Management <strong>and</strong> Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program. The<br />
individual departments are described briefly on this page. More detailed responsibilities,<br />
goals, <strong>and</strong> business initiatives are described later in this section.<br />
Information Technology – Responsible for the leadership, project management,<br />
implementation, <strong>and</strong> support of technology initiatives for SEPTA <strong>and</strong> external customers.<br />
Administers <strong>and</strong> manages the enterprise data center, including mainframe/mid-range<br />
systems <strong>and</strong> network server architecture <strong>and</strong> the enterprise network infrastructure<br />
services (wired <strong>and</strong> wireless) for all SEPTA locations. Manages <strong>and</strong> maintains the<br />
disaster recovery <strong>and</strong> contingency tasks for SEPTA digital assets.<br />
Procurement <strong>and</strong> Supply Chain Management – Performs the purchase, lease, sale,<br />
<strong>and</strong> disposal of parts, vehicles, equipment, supplies, repairs, <strong>and</strong> services utilized by the<br />
organization. Responsible for contract administration, automated Materials<br />
Management/Purchasing System, electronic material requisitions, procurement cards <strong>and</strong><br />
stockless stationery. Provides coordination <strong>and</strong> enforcement of SEPTA’s compliance with<br />
Federal, State <strong>and</strong> local funding agency regulations for capital projects, planning studies<br />
<strong>and</strong> other non-operating projects. Participates in the updating of st<strong>and</strong>ard form contracts,<br />
the procurement manual <strong>and</strong> related policy instructions. Responsible for storeroom<br />
operations, warehousing <strong>and</strong> distribution, inventory replenishment forecasting <strong>and</strong><br />
control, procurements to support fleet maintenance operations <strong>and</strong> production, material<br />
planning <strong>and</strong> control.<br />
Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program – Administers the U.S. Department of<br />
Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program regulations to ensure a<br />
level playing field <strong>and</strong> equal opportunity for small, minority <strong>and</strong> women-owned<br />
businesses to participate in contract <strong>and</strong> procurement activities. Provides outreach,<br />
technical assistance, training <strong>and</strong> dissemination of resource information to those firms<br />
interested in doing business with SEPTA.<br />
