Cause of Change<br />

Fiscal Year 2011 to Fiscal Year <strong>2012</strong><br />

The Authority remains committed to maintaining headcount at a responsible level <strong>and</strong> will<br />

reduce headcount in Fiscal Year <strong>2012</strong>. Most reductions are a result of positions added to<br />

support Federal Stimulus Program projects which will be completed.<br />

Fiscal Year 2011 Authorized Headcount: 9,449<br />

Overview of Headcount Changes from Fiscal Year 2011 to Fiscal Year <strong>2012</strong>:<br />

• Operations Division – Increase of 269 heads:<br />

‣ Transfer of 60 management (A) heads <strong>and</strong> 209 hourly (H) heads from Public <strong>and</strong><br />

Operational Safety as a result of moving the Transit Police into Operations.<br />

‣ Transfer of 1 management (A) Manager of Engineering to Rail Vehicle<br />

Engineering <strong>and</strong> Maintenance from Bus Vehicle Engineering <strong>and</strong> Maintenance<br />

‣ Transfer of 1 management (A) Senior Project Designer, 1 management (A)<br />

Project Engineer, 2 management (A) Engineer II positions <strong>and</strong> 5 (H) hourly heads<br />

Sheet Metal Fabricators 1 st Class to Bus Vehicle Engineering <strong>and</strong> Maintenance<br />

from Rail Vehicle Engineering <strong>and</strong> Maintenance.<br />

• Audit <strong>and</strong> Investigative Services – Decrease of 2 heads:<br />

‣ Transfer of 2 management (A) heads from the Office of the Inspector General to<br />

Customer Service.<br />

• Customer Service Division – Increase of 2 heads:<br />

‣ Transfer of 2 management (A) heads from Audit <strong>and</strong> Investigative Services to<br />

Customer Service.<br />

• Engineering, Maintenance <strong>and</strong> Construction Division – Decrease of 12 heads:<br />

‣ Decrease of 1 management (A) head in Capital Construction as a result of<br />

completed stimulus projects.<br />

‣ Decrease of 3 management (A) heads <strong>and</strong> 8 hourly (H) heads in Engineering <strong>and</strong><br />

Maintenance as a result of completed stimulus projects.<br />

• Finance <strong>and</strong> Planning Division – Decrease of 4 heads:<br />

‣ Transfer of 4 management (A) heads to Public <strong>and</strong> Government Affairs as a result<br />

of the transfer of the Marketing Department.<br />

• Public <strong>and</strong> Government Affairs Division – Increase of 4 heads:<br />

‣ Transfer of 4 management (A) heads from Finance <strong>and</strong> Planning Division as a<br />

result of the transfer of the Marketing Department.<br />

• Public <strong>and</strong> Operational Safety Division – Decrease of 269 heads:<br />

‣ Transfer of 60 management (A) heads <strong>and</strong> 209 hourly (H) heads from the Transit<br />

Police to the Operations Division.<br />
