DIVISONAL GOALS AND BUSINESS INITIATIVES<br />
• Strive to have SEPTA’s status as an arm-of-the-state be well established within the courts,<br />
<strong>and</strong> recognized by all other entities, <strong>and</strong> accordingly, have SEPTA not be subject to claims<br />
under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA) due to that status.<br />
• Comply with E-discovery rules <strong>and</strong> practices so as to establish <strong>and</strong> secure the best<br />
possible legal position in claims <strong>and</strong> litigation.<br />
• Enhance <strong>and</strong> fine-tune the approach to lawsuit management decision-making.<br />
• Make the best use of data from cameras on vehicles <strong>and</strong> in facilities to defend <strong>and</strong> protect<br />
SEPTA in potential claims <strong>and</strong> lawsuits.<br />
• Continue to monitor federal, state <strong>and</strong> city legislation that impacts the Authority.<br />
• Plan <strong>and</strong> prepare for future human capital resource availability <strong>and</strong> capability within the<br />
Legal Division.<br />
• Improve the means of purchasing electric power energy for the Authority.<br />
