ADA Program<br />
Customized Community Transportation<br />
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, CCT Connect provides ADA<br />
complementary Paratransit transportation for persons who cannot use or access regular<br />
SEPTA fixed route service. Throughout SEPTA’s five-county service area, private carriers<br />
under contract to SEPTA furnish door-to-door transportation to disabled riders by advanced<br />
reservation. Projected Fiscal Year <strong>2012</strong> ridership is 692,842 trips for Philadelphia <strong>and</strong><br />
310,433 trips for the suburban communities.<br />
One of the main focuses of CCT Connect’s efforts for Fiscal Year <strong>2012</strong> will be to continue<br />
providing 100% next day rides to ADA program patrons. SEPTA is committed to maintaining<br />
a “zero trip denial” policy.<br />
The next-day trip initiative will build on proactive steps taken during recent years. The entire<br />
SEPTA-owned fleet of 425 vehicles is maintained to SEPTA’s st<strong>and</strong>ards by the contract<br />
carriers. In addition, the Philadelphia trip reservation, scheduling <strong>and</strong> dispatch was<br />
centralized under SEPTA supervision – along with driver training <strong>and</strong> testing. Other<br />
programs were instituted to enhance contractor accountability <strong>and</strong> customer satisfaction,<br />
including patron service monitoring <strong>and</strong> the mobile data terminal (MDT) swipe card readers<br />
on all Philadelphia vehicles.<br />
ADA Program initiatives continuing during Fiscal Year <strong>2012</strong> include the fleet replacement<br />
program for optimizing fleet reliability, <strong>and</strong> an enhanced patron eligibility certification. This<br />
process will enable those CCT riders who can do so to use fixed route service for some or all<br />
of their travel – after completion of training developed in cooperation with the SEPTA<br />
Advisory Committee (SAC) <strong>and</strong> the disabled community.<br />
Shared Ride Program<br />
The Shared Ride Program (SRP) provides shared, advance-reservation, door-to-door<br />
transportation for Pennsylvanians age 65 <strong>and</strong> older. SEPTA’s CCT Connect Department is<br />
the SRP county coordinator for Philadelphia County. The Pennsylvania Lottery Fund<br />
reimburses SEPTA for 85% of the cost of each eligible CCT Connect Shared Ride Program<br />
trip according to pre-established rates, with the balance coming from patron fares <strong>and</strong>/or<br />
third party agency sponsors. The Shared Ride Program’s goal for Fiscal Year <strong>2012</strong> is to<br />
provide a total of 780,780 senior trips.<br />
The Philadelphia Shared Ride Program Advisory Council (SRPAC), an independent advisory<br />
group, provides advice <strong>and</strong> information to SEPTA on Shared Ride Program service.<br />
