INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY<br />
Principal Responsibilities<br />
Emerging Technologies – Provides the short <strong>and</strong> long term strategy, direction,<br />
management, <strong>and</strong> implementation of the core enterprise architecture <strong>and</strong> technical<br />
infrastructure for the Authority. Manages new technologies <strong>and</strong> the support of Control<br />
Center specialty technology systems. Responsible for the strategic design <strong>and</strong><br />
development of advanced network architecture using wired <strong>and</strong> wireless technologies.<br />
Project Services – Supports the development, integration <strong>and</strong> implementation of new<br />
software systems in support of business units throughout the Authority <strong>and</strong> maintains,<br />
supports <strong>and</strong> enhances existing systems Authority-wide. This section responds to<br />
application software problems, which have the potential to seriously impact the<br />
Authority’s ability to conduct business.<br />
Technology Services – Provides computer operations stability <strong>and</strong> access security on a<br />
7-day/24-hour basis including problem management, disaster recovery, database<br />
administration <strong>and</strong> change control. Maintains the technology infrastructure necessary for<br />
business critical systems, including: Enterprise E-mail services, Internet/Intranet Access,<br />
Payroll, Materials Management, General Accounting, Operations Control Centers,<br />
Disaster recovery <strong>and</strong> Business Continuity. Supports SEPTA’s enterprise data<br />
communication systems <strong>and</strong> the entire microcomputer environment. Sets st<strong>and</strong>ards for<br />
hardware <strong>and</strong> software used across the networks <strong>and</strong> installs, supports, <strong>and</strong> maintains<br />
the data network infrastructure throughout the entire Authority service area.<br />
Records Management – Responsible for developing <strong>and</strong> implementing records<br />
management systems throughout the Authority, including record retention schedules,<br />
storage, retrieval, digital archiving, <strong>and</strong> destruction protocols.<br />
