Public <strong>and</strong> Operational Safety<br />

SYSTEM SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT<br />

Principal Responsibilities<br />

Develops, implements, maintains <strong>and</strong> updates the multi-modal System Safety Program<br />

Plan (SSPP). Orchestrates all functions related to safety throughout the Authority,<br />

including the potential for environmental <strong>and</strong> workplace health exposures. Performs an<br />

enhanced level of safety inspections <strong>and</strong> audits, in addition to major accident<br />

investigations, occupational injury investigations <strong>and</strong> safety/risk management<br />

assessments. Conducts fire drills <strong>and</strong> evacuation exercises at all Authority locations.<br />

Directs the activities of the Joint Health <strong>and</strong> Safety Committee (JHSC) <strong>and</strong> oversees the<br />

Location Safety Committee (LSC) process. Assists in the coordination of multidepartmental<br />

initiatives to promote <strong>and</strong> internalize safety as the Authority’s top priority.<br />

Manage the Property/Casualty Insurance Program <strong>and</strong> the risk treatment process. Work<br />

to obtain the most cost effective insurance coverage by reducing risk exposures <strong>and</strong><br />

implementing effective risk control techniques at all Authority locations. Coordinate the<br />

collection <strong>and</strong> reporting of all safety statistics throughout the Authority <strong>and</strong> administers<br />

the reporting of those statistics to regulatory agencies.<br />

WORKERS’ COMPENSATION<br />

Principal Responsibilities<br />

Manages workers’ compensation <strong>and</strong> Family Medical Leave Act claims through third<br />

party administrator including the management of all medical <strong>and</strong> indemnity claims.<br />

Coordinates internal vocational rehabilitation <strong>and</strong> the management of all alternative <strong>and</strong><br />

transitional duty programs. Administers supplemental benefits as prescribed by labor<br />

contracts.<br />
