HUMAN RESOURCES TEAM<br />

Principal Responsibilities<br />

The Authority’s dynamic business environment requires that Human Resources be<br />

responsive by directing the initiatives that add value. The principal areas of focus are<br />

employees, customer service, organization effectiveness <strong>and</strong> service quality, training,<br />

compliance with policies <strong>and</strong> procedures <strong>and</strong> the development of measures that promote<br />

our vision, mission <strong>and</strong> goals.<br />

EMPLOYEE SERVICES<br />

Principal Responsibilities<br />

Medical - Manage the Wellness Program. Conduct drug <strong>and</strong> alcohol testing in<br />

accordance with Authority policy <strong>and</strong> U.S. Department of Transportation regulations.<br />

Responsible for conducting medical examinations for fitness for duty, new hire physicals,<br />

medical surveillance programs (i.e. PCBs, asbestos), hearing conservation, etc. as<br />

required by the Authority. Administer the Employee Assistance Program for all<br />

employees <strong>and</strong> their dependents.<br />

Benefits - Design, negotiate <strong>and</strong> administer the benefits program, including medical,<br />

dental, prescription, life insurance, long term disability, supplemental insurance, COBRA,<br />

pension, deferred compensation, supplemental voluntary benefits <strong>and</strong> flexible benefits<br />

programs for 30,000 individuals, including employees, retirees <strong>and</strong> families. Conducts<br />

benefit orientations <strong>and</strong> information sessions concerning all employee benefits programs.<br />

Compensation/Human Resources Information Systems – Develop, communicate <strong>and</strong><br />

administer the compensation program for supervisory, administrative <strong>and</strong> management<br />

employees. Update information, monitor <strong>and</strong> train employees on the use of the Human<br />

Resource Information System (HRIS). Maintains files for all 1,700 SAM employees <strong>and</strong><br />

the Hay Evaluation System that is utilized to evaluate SAM positions.<br />
