This class combined the decision-making processes of emergency response and risk assessment with the tools and techniques that provide for rapid communication and informed risk management of chemicals and biological agents. An emergency consequence assessment tool was used to demonstrate consequence assessment during an emergency. Topics included: • Process toward validated sampling and analysis of WMDs for clearance sampling, remediation, and restoration. • Biodetection: screening technologies and an introduction to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). • Support for Environmental Rapid Risk Assessment database and the Data Dictionary: rapid access to agent-specific information. • Knowing your numbers: Health-based criteria and provisional advisory levels. • How clean is clean?: State of current policy. • Emergency consequence assessment for water systems. • What can we do for you?: Introduction to the TRIO Workgroup.
