2007 OSC Readiness Training Program Evaluation Report
Comments on course content
• Overall - well done!
• This is the best course that I have taken in several trips to Readiness Training.
• Interagency Modeling and Atmospheric Assessment Center (IMAAC) needs to be better defined
and explained and with less slides. (Three responses)
• Too heavy on physics and organizations, need more practical applications.
• Incorporation of RAT and aspects would be helpful and would allow us to get more data quickly.
• More information on sampling techniques. Instructor indicated that it would be possible to use
other samplers.
• Incorporate demonstrations of detectors to show shortcomings and issues to be aware of when
using. It would be helpful if we could try the detectors ourselves.
• Health Physics (HP) terminology - as useful as some terms were, others were not useful.
• Focus on critical criteria and incorporate into scenario. (Two responses)
Comments on instructional methods and materials
• Great flow of material, equipment, and application. (Two responses)
• Excellent student/instructor interaction. (Three responses)
• Exercise was a very good way to summarize the course material. (Six responses)
• The instructors were extremely knowledgeable!
• The exercise and information leading up to it helped me better understand how to develop a
sampling plan/staff.
• More visual presentations and demonstrations needed. (Five responses)
• The pace was both too fast and too slow. Too much information in too short of time; only some
were able to keep up. (Two responses)
• Shorten PowerPoints.
• More online IMAAC exercises.
• Put two IMAAC modules together.
• Provide a quick reference guide (wallet size) on HP terminology.
• It would be nice to have a copy of the RAD playbook and when discussing the equipment go
through some identification through a HAZCAT process diagram.
• Micro-charts were not relevant.
• EPA should consider limiting the size of the class to allow for hands-on training.
Comments on course name and abstract expectations
• You might stress this as something an OSC would be expected to do in the first instances of a
dirty bomb incident.
