2007 OSC Readiness Training Program Evaluation Report
benefits to the program over years to come. People generally work better with people they have
met. And everyone had a chance to meet and talk with the program’s leaders and managers.
• This type of training offers a networking system
to expand our horizons, and go where there
might be a “hole to fill.”
• This was a GREAT opportunity to meet face to
face with many folks who we usually meet only
on workgroup conference calls.
• As always, the best part about Readiness
Training. (Six responses)
• As good as the training is, the networking aspect
of OSC Readiness is equally as important and
useful as the training aspect.
• Best annual opportunity to meet/greet peers
across the country. As we move to a National
Workforce concept, this issue becomes very
important.
• Especially good for Katrina to follow up and
strengthen relationships established from response.
I was able to “network” successfully with
others from around the country.
• Got a good contact on a chemical warfare agent site, very rare for EPA.
• Groups quickly broke out into their own cliques, hard to meet new folks. (Two responses)
• Gumbo Feast and afternoon refreshments assisted in networking.
• I am not sure if the uniform kept people from introducing themselves.
• I saw people I did not even know I knew.
• I was able to network with familiar faces and was introduced to others that may prove useful to
me in my position.
• I was able to network with more response support people but found that “OSC time” was harder
to create.
• It is an opportunity to touch base with your peers from around the country.
• It was great to have a venue to meet staff from other regions. Normally, my job is somewhat
isolated so I appreciate the opportunity.
• Many opportunities to network. It is critical to have a hotel with open areas for meeting and
networking.
• Most time is spent talking and catching up with people from your own region. Class time is the
only opportunity to meet new people. Networking is difficult when you are new and everyone
around you is new to you.
• Since I am not an OSC, this training allowed me to not only meet other RPMs from around the
country, but it allowed me to meet OSCs that I would not have met. This opportunity to network
at the readiness training will allow RSC members and OSCs to work together more effectively.
• This and the Case Studies proved to be the best aspect of OSC Readiness.
• Good that NHSRC, NDT, ERT, and RERT participate and teach!
Comments related to improving the network experience
• Could have a couple of planned “activities” as networking events scheduled in during the days.
