2007 OSC Readiness Training Program Evaluation Report Comments on course name and abstract expectations • This was a comprehensive overview of biological response issues. • It offered the basics of Biothreats. • May need to rename course “Basics of Biothreats.” • Expected more recommendations/procedures — more of a “how-to.” • Very little actual information about response — except bleach. 2007 OSC Readiness Training Program Evaluation Report Case Studies Instructors: Greg Ham, EPA Region 3 Earl Liverman, EPA Region 10 Michelle Rogow, EPA Region 9 Heath Smith, EPA Region 7 Greg Weigel, EPA Region 10 David Williams, EPA Region 7 This course described sites where OSCs have worked. Response projects included an abandoned chemical manufacturing plant, a landfill fire, a major pesticide release, an illegal hazardous materials disposal site, a train derailment, and an oil spill response. Presentations were fast-paced and incorporated audience interaction. These cases were of great value to new OSCs as well as those with substantial experience. This course was recommended for RSC staff. The course had a good balance of lecture material, visual aids, case studies, and discussion time. The handout materials were clear, legible, and helpful. The course materials will be useful as a reference for my job. This course should continue to be offered at future training programs.
