• Value the EPA a little more.<br />
• Vapor intrusion... other regions’ perspective.<br />
• Wait to attend the next one.<br />
• Wash hands even more often...<br />
• Will try to integrate earlier and better into environmental response (ER) issues.<br />
• Work harder on ICS workgroup - 3 deep.<br />
• Work more closely with other Regions.<br />
• Work on internal communication skills; continue dialogue with Regional contacts.<br />
• Work on public meeting.<br />
• Work with USDA to let them better understand <strong>OSC</strong>s assets with respect to contracting<br />
capabilities.<br />
Comments on topics or courses which should be added<br />
• A 4-hour course on health and safety issues relevant to <strong>OSC</strong>s and our state partners.<br />
• A course on problems encountered out in the field, such as public perception of cleanup activities<br />
and how to overcome them.<br />
• Additional case studies of non-typical responses.<br />
• Advanced Chemistry/Biology: Department of Justice (DOJ) Course Dougway Proving Grounds<br />
Instructors Explosives: Bring in Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) or Annaston<br />
Army Instructors Chemical, Biological, Radiological Forensics Sampling: DOJ/Federal Bureau<br />
of Investigation (FBI) Course Radiation Playbook/Nuclear Annex: Have Jim Mitchell and ORIA<br />
present railroad tank car training: Bring in Union Pacific Advanced Air Monitoring Training:<br />
bring in CTECH use ERT Use of Modeling: Bring in Lawrence Livermore Naval Research<br />
Advisory Committee (NRAC) training. ICS Information Flow: Bring back course from 2004<br />
Crisis Communications: Bring in Barry McLughlin, he does this training for the USCG 2 Week<br />
<strong>OSC</strong> Crisis Management Training. Leadership Skill Training: Bring back from previous<br />
Readiness. New Course: “You can teach old dogs new tricks:” This course would be a tech<br />
course for old school <strong>OSC</strong>s. Introduction to GPS, Street Finders Plus, BlackBerrys, new digital<br />
radios, phones, other useful tech tool for <strong>OSC</strong>s Radio Communications.<br />
• Advanced Eco-revitalization (Beyond Hydro-seeding).<br />
• Air monitoring, Fish Kills.<br />
• Along with the relocation guidance, add reimbursement guidance.<br />
• As a member of the RSC, I felt most courses offered were far too technical for RSCs. Others,<br />
though not too technical, were interesting but not applicable to our duties as RSCs. <strong>OSC</strong>s should<br />
not have to suffer for our lack of technical expertise so I am not suggesting this should be<br />
changed. However, if you continue to combine RSC and <strong>OSC</strong>s together in the same training<br />
conference, you might consider separating the two for the actual courses (i.e., courses only<br />
applicable to RSC, courses only applicable to <strong>OSC</strong>s, and a smattering of courses applicable to<br />
both).<br />
• Bioremediation, PRP lead removals.<br />
• Case Studies.<br />
• Chemical Identification.<br />
• Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM).<br />
• USCG and EPA joint response to a shoreline incident.<br />
• Courses geared at RSC members.<br />
