2007 OSC Readiness Training Program Evaluation Report • I became lost in the multiple standards, checklists, etc. • Could not figure out what types of tanks need to be and are required to be inspected for American Petroleum Institute (API) 653. • Too much information was presented on tanks, especially the different types of tanks and the frequency of tank inspections. (Seven responses) Comments on instructional methods and materials • The presenter is very knowledgeable. • Training assistant was outstanding! • The presenters seemed to have a good balance of materials. • Supplemental notes on the bottom of the page were helpful. (Two responses) • The handouts seem very helpful. • Include more visual information for scenarios. (Two responses) • Many of the slides repeated the same information. • Many of the slides did not relate to the course. • Add a check sheet to keep track of the different standards and for which tank. • Include a syllabus for the course. • Speed up the pace of the course. (Two responses) • Reduce the amount of lecture. (Two responses) • The course was too detailed. • Too much information for a half-day training course. (Three responses) • Make the course a full day with an afternoon field component looking at tanks, bulk oil facility or refinery. • The “What to look for” section will be very helpful in deciphering integrity/inspection reports. • Unfortunately, the material will not be a great reference because the tank inspection standards differ greatly between the EPA and USCG. • Mark could be more involved to make things more relevant to OSC and SPCC work. Comments on course name and abstract expectations • Yes, it met my expectations. (Two responses) • This material was presented at a more advanced level than I expected. (Three responses) • I expected much more coverage on pipe considerations. • I was mistaken to think standards were the same between land and marine tanks. Comments on recommending course to colleagues • I would recommend this course to special inspectors and employees with SPCC involvement. 2007 OSC Readiness Training Program Evaluation Report • I would not recommend this course to most of my colleagues because they are OSCs and have limited SPCC involvement. • The course should be offered again to colleagues, but should not occur at every OSC Readiness Training Program. Attendee’s suggestions for future course offerings • Topics to lengthen: - Non-destructive testing of piping and tanks - Piping standards and how to inspect piping (Two responses) - More detail about the different industry inspection standards and how they relate to EPA SPCC regulations (Two responses) - SPCC inspections and exercises • Topics to omit: - API 653 Inspection qualifications (pages 60, 125, 125) C-72 Comments about Individual Training Courses
