2007 OSC Readiness Training Program Evaluation Report The pie chart below illustrates the percentages of students for the training course by job title. EPA OSCs and other regional removal and emergency response support staff represented 49 percent of the students. Five members of the RSC attended this course. Participants by Job Title EPA RPMs, 6% (2) Other Federal Agency Representatives, 17% (6) EPA OSCs, 31% (11) State Representatives, 6% (2) EPA ERT, 3% (1) EPA CICs, 3% (1) EPA Removal Managers, 3% (1) Other EPA Regional Removal Staff, 14% (5) EPA HQ Representatives, 17% (6) Summarized below are the written comments provided on the evaluation forms. Similar observations have been combined and paraphrased. Comments on course relevance to job responsibilities • I do a lot of public meetings and this course is immediately applicable to my work. (Three responses) • My job can be high stress and this course gives me excellent tools to use. • Course material is not an immediate relevance to job, but material will help me overall in my professional and personal communications. (Two responses) Comments on course content • Best course this OSC Readiness Training. (Three responses) • Excellent! (Five responses) • Course helped me understand how to communicate effectively in high stress situations. • Course helped me learn how to design prepared answers to questions. • Case studies, examples and exercises were great. (Three responses) • The visual clips were entertaining and reinforced the material. (Four responses) • More practice would have been ideal but the course definitely got the brain working. • The role playing part of the course could have been shortened. • Would like more discussion of current case studies or examples of what worked and what did not. • Would like more information on how to change the message maps. • Course had some repetition on the slides and it was confusing when bouncing between slides and other handout materials. 2007 OSC Readiness Training Program Evaluation Report Comments on instructional methods and materials • The instructor had an excellent command of the subject. • Great presentation and reference materials. Both will help me become an effective communicator. (Six responses) • Good balance of examples, lectures, and role play. • Role playing was very helpful. • Very well organized. • Shorten the instructor introduction. • Make into a day and a half training session.
