Chapter 7: <strong>Land</strong> <strong>Use</strong> <strong>Code</strong><br />
standards <strong>of</strong> this section.<br />
(1) Free-standing signs shall not exceed 35 feet in height; and shall be a minimum <strong>of</strong> 8<br />
feet above grade when located adjacent to or projecting over a pedestrian way and larger<br />
than two 2 sq. ft. in area. Each free-standing sign may have two faces, each with the<br />
maximum area allowed under subsection 5.04 (f), provided the two faces are the same size<br />
and join back-to-back without any overlap.<br />
(2) Projecting Signs shall not be higher than the eave line or parapet wall <strong>of</strong> the<br />
principal building and shall be a minimum <strong>of</strong> 8 feet above grade when located adjacent to or<br />
projecting over a pedestrian way; shall not extend more than 4 feet from the building wall<br />
except where such a sign is an integral part <strong>of</strong> an approved canopy or awning.<br />
(3) Wall Signs shall not be higher than the eave line or parapet wall <strong>of</strong> the principal<br />
building and no sign part, including cutout letters, shall project more than 12 inches from<br />
the building wall.<br />
(h)<br />
Permits. It shall be unlawful to erect, construct, reconstruct, alter, paint, or repaint, or<br />
change the use <strong>of</strong> any sign as defined in this section without first obtaining a sign permit;<br />
however, a sign permit shall not be required to repaint a sign exactly as it was permitted for<br />
the purpose <strong>of</strong> maintenance.<br />
(1) For all sign permits required, a fee shall be charged to cover the costs <strong>of</strong><br />
administration.<br />
(2) Off-premise advertising signs require a permit from the <strong>Town</strong>.<br />
