Chapter 7: <strong>Land</strong> <strong>Use</strong> <strong>Code</strong><br />
§ 6.00 ADMINISTRATION AND PROCEDURES<br />
§ 6.01 Planning and Zoning Commission<br />
(a) Planning and Zoning Commission created. There is hereby created an<br />
advisory board known as the Planning and Zoning Commission.<br />
(b)<br />
Organization.<br />
(1) The commission shall consist <strong>of</strong> five at-large regular members and<br />
may include two (2) alternates. All members shall be qualified electors <strong>of</strong><br />
the town appointed by the mayor and ratified by a majority vote <strong>of</strong> the<br />
board <strong>of</strong> trustees.<br />
(2) In addition to the seven (7) members, there shall be at least one ex<strong>of</strong>ficio<br />
member from the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees which shall be the Mayor or<br />
his/her designee. there shall also be one (1) ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio member who shall<br />
be the <strong>Town</strong> Fire Marshal. the <strong>Town</strong> Board may appoint two (2) nonresident<br />
ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio members <strong>of</strong> the Commission.<br />
(3) Alternate members may not vote, except in the absence <strong>of</strong> a regular<br />
member; and the ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio members may not ever vote. All regular<br />
members, alternate members and ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio members may participate in all<br />
discussions.<br />
(4) Each non-resident ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio member must be a resident <strong>of</strong> Wright's<br />
Mesa, but not the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Norwood</strong>.<br />
(5) Each regular and alternate member <strong>of</strong> the Commission shall be a<br />
resident citizen and qualified elector <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Norwood</strong>, <strong>Colorado</strong>, at<br />
the time <strong>of</strong> his or her appointment. A member who ceases to reside in the<br />
<strong>Town</strong> during his or her term <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice shall immediately forfeit his or her<br />
<strong>of</strong>fice.<br />
(6) The term <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> regular, alternate and ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio members <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Commission shall be for two (2) years; except that the term <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> the<br />
ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio member from the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees, the Mayor and the ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio<br />
member who is the Fire Marshal shall coincide with their other respective<br />
and relevant positions. The three (3) regular members shall be appointed to<br />
two (2) year terms ending on Feb 1 in even years and three (3) members<br />
shall be appointed for two (2) year terms beginning on Feb 1 in odd years.<br />
(7) All members <strong>of</strong> the Commission shall serve without compensation.<br />
