5. THE BALLOON
Pieces of colored calico were sewn to form an envelope for the balloon (4 meters in diameter). Later in
the forest, out in the rain, we inflated toy balloons and stuffed the big one with them. The whole process
took 6 hours. After the balloon was finished, we put inside it a ringing alarm clock and let the whole
haystack-shaped thing to drift down the river Klyazma.
The viewers who had receives invitations (10 persons) gathered on station Lobnya and were met by one
of participants of the action (estimated time of travel by train – 40 minutes). After reaching village Kyevy
Gorky by shuttle bus (estimated time – 20 minutes) and crossing the forest (10 minutes), the audience
found itself on one side of a field. Two other participants appeared on its opposite side. One of them, who
was noticeably taller, wore a long loose ochroid robe. The other participant in casual clothes went behind
the overall and in such way they proceeded towards the audience. When they were 25 meters away from
8. THE LAMP
On a hill near Zagorsk in the twilight an electrical street-lamp was strung up between treetops, its sides
covered with purple glimmer. Underneath it had a red balloon, serving as sail. The whole construction
revolved and swung in the wind. Purple flashes of various intensity and timing could be seen from a
distance up to two kilometers. There were no other light sources within eyesight.
