23. THE EXIT
A group of viewers was met by the action‘s organizers at a trolley bus stop ―Pushkinskaya ulitsa‖. When
all the invitees gathered at the stop, they were prompted to take a ride on the trolley bus. After traveling
from one bus stop to another, the viewers received paper cards with inscriptions: ―WE‘RE LEAVING AT
THE NEXT STOP. Collective Actions‖. After getting off the trolley bus at the next stop (―Kozitsky
pereulok‖), the viewers met other organizers who had been waiting there and received paper envelopes
with inscription that said: ―THE EXIT took place on the 20 th of March, 19843, at 12:24 in the afternoon
(handwritten). Thank you for your cooperation‖. The cards were then put inside the envelopes.
24. GROUP – 3
A group of viewers met near metro station Rizhskaya and was brought to a nearby square, some 50
meters away from the point of meeting. There the viewers received envelopes with inscriptions saying
―GROUP – 3 was assembled on the 24 th of April, 1983, at 13:24 (handwritten). Collective actions‖. Inside
each envelope there were two photographs of groups of viewers taken at actions ―The Halt‖ and ―The
Exit‖, labeled respectively ―Group-1‖ (date) and ―Group-2‖ (date). When the envelopes were labeled, two
organizers stood on the group‘s left and right holding sketch-boards with letters (―GROUP‖ on the left
board and ―3‖). A group photo was taken inside this ―framework‖.
25. A DARK SPOT
Two action‘s participants (V.Mironenko and I.Kabakov), were to go to the country, individually and at
different times, coordinating their actions by instructions (see appendix). After finding an appropriate
field, they were to sit down, facing the forest at a distance of 80-100 meters to it, then find the darkest
spot of the forest, photograph it, paint and describe (to a tape recorder).
