Overall average speed, including station dwell time, is 51.3 mph.Scheduled train running time between Sacramen<strong>to</strong> and Bakersfield averages5 hours-16 minutes, and overall average speed is 53.7 mph. The maximum trackspeed on the San Joaquin Route is 79 miles per hour.The San Joaquin Route comprises 365 route miles, 316 miles between Oaklandand Bakersfield with 13 intermediate s<strong>to</strong>ps, and 49 miles between Sacramen<strong>to</strong> andS<strong>to</strong>ck<strong>to</strong>n with one additional intermediate s<strong>to</strong>p. Amtrak operates the San Joaquinsunder provisions of its contracts with the BNSF and UP. Predominant right-ofwayownership is by the BNSF (Port Chicago-Bakersfield). The UP owns39 miles at the north end of the route between Oakland and Port Chicago and49 miles in the segment between S<strong>to</strong>ck<strong>to</strong>n and Sacramen<strong>to</strong>.
