<strong>2007</strong>-<strong>08</strong> – <strong>2017</strong>-<strong>18</strong> <strong>California</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Rail</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>AIRPORT ACCESSSection 14036.7 of the Government Code requires that the Department report onthe status of all existing intercity rail station facilities that serve airports directlyand indirectly and on the Department’s activities in improving other linkagesbetween rail service and airports.Virtually all major airports in <strong>California</strong> can be reached by intercity rail with atransit connection. Figure 3J shows the intercity and commuter rail stations andtransit connections that provide access <strong>to</strong> the major <strong>California</strong> airports.The Amtrak <strong>California</strong> web site: www.amtrakcalifornia.com provides detailedinformation on access from <strong>California</strong> Amtrak services <strong>to</strong> <strong>California</strong> airports.Three airports in <strong>California</strong> are served directly by Amtrak train or connectingfeeder bus service: The Bob Hope Airport (Burbank), the Arcata-Eureka Airport,and the Palm Springs Airport. The Bob Hope Airport is directly served byPacific Surfliner trains. The rail station, which provides both Amtrak andMetrolink service, is a short walk from the main airport terminal. The stationintegrates airport shuttles, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains, San Joaquin feeder busservice, Metrolink trains, and local transit service. Currently, five daily round-tripPacific Surfliners and <strong>18</strong> weekday Metrolink round-trip trains serve this station.The Arcata-Eureka and Palm Springs Airports are directly served by aSan Joaquin bus s<strong>to</strong>p at the airport.64
