Chapter IX – Commuter <strong>Rail</strong> ServicesCurrently, excursion services are operated between Fillmore and Santa Paula.The UP provides limited freight rail service on this corridor. VCTC recentlyinitiated a study <strong>to</strong> investigate rail options on the Santa Paula Branch Line. Thereare also plans for a recreational trail in the ROW.Fuller<strong>to</strong>n-Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Service EnhancementThe Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) decided at its Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 14,2005 meeting <strong>to</strong> pursue increased Metrolink service frequencies between Fuller<strong>to</strong>nand Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo. The expanded service would result in theoperation of daily trains every 30 minutes between 5 a.m. and midnight.
