ACE will continue <strong>to</strong> focus onimproving OTP and train speeds, expanding options for communicating trainstatus <strong>to</strong> passengers, providing more opportunities for passengers <strong>to</strong> participate inthe ACE planning process, and implementing new schedules as necessary <strong>to</strong>improve coordination and performance. ACE will invest in infrastructure projectsthat will allow for higher track speeds or improved reliability.CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMThe ACE <strong>2007</strong>/<strong>08</strong> capital improvement program <strong>to</strong>tals $29.9 million. Principalprojects include:<strong>Rail</strong> Maintenance and Layover Facility in San Joaquin County - $6.0 millionThis is a multi-year project with funds for ROW acquisition, and engineering.Signal Upgrade Project (S<strong>to</strong>ck<strong>to</strong>n <strong>to</strong> Fremont) - $3.0 millionThis is a multi-year project, which began in FY 2004-05, <strong>to</strong> upgrade the signalsystem between S<strong>to</strong>ck<strong>to</strong>n and Fremont and improve service reliability. The <strong>to</strong>talestimated project cost is $11.5 million, and funds identified are for work <strong>to</strong> becompleted in FY <strong>2007</strong>/<strong>08</strong>.Cabral Station Neighborhood Revitalization ProjectThis is a multi-year project, with Phase I construction initiation and completion inFY <strong>2007</strong>/<strong>08</strong>. Phase I construction is <strong>to</strong> re-route the existing bus service off theresidential street (Channel street) <strong>to</strong> Aurora Street providing improved transitcirculation at the station.161
