Locations where arailroad track and a street or road cross each other at separate grades are calledrail-highway grade separations. The <strong>State</strong> Section 190 Program focuses onconstructing grade separations Locations where a railroad track and a street orroad cross each other at the same grade are called rail-highway grade crossings.The Federal Section 1010/1103 Program and the Federal Section 130 Programfocus on improving safety and operations at grade crossings. These programscombined receive approximately $35 million a year in funds. Additionally,Proposition 1B includes $250 million for high-priority grade separation andrailroad crossing safety improvements.33
