However, there is coordination between the Department and theCCJPA concerning operations. This Section primarily discusses the Department’sProgram. The CCJPA’s Program can be found in Chapter VIII,The Capi<strong>to</strong>l Corridor. While the Department’s operations, marketing and capitalprograms are all interrelated, the operations program is focused on operationalefficiency, passenger amenities, emerging technologies, connecting Amtrak busservices, and multimodal connectivity. Each of these areas is discussed below.Also, the Department’s 10-year operations goals for the Pacific Surfliner andSan Joaquin Routes are presented in Chapters VI and VII.OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCYImprovements in operational efficiency are heavily dependent on theimplementation of the 10-year capital improvement program discussed inChapter II.
