<strong>2007</strong>-<strong>08</strong> – <strong>2017</strong>-<strong>18</strong> <strong>California</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Rail</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>Richmond – This station is a transit node where passengers can transfer betweenBART trains and San Joaquins or the Capi<strong>to</strong>l Corridor. The station is also servedby AC Transit and Golden Gate Transit. A pedestrian-oriented transit village hasbeen built at this station. The completed project comprises 231 <strong>to</strong>wnhouses,27,000 square feet of retail space and a 30,000 square foot performing and culturalarts facility. In order <strong>to</strong> accommodate increased ridership at the station, theDepartment and CCJPA constructed a new center boarding platform at the stationwith a passenger shelter, seating, and a new stairwell and eleva<strong>to</strong>r providing adirect connection <strong>to</strong> the BART station. A new Amtrak station building and plazahas also been constructed.San Diego – A high-density condominium project adjacent <strong>to</strong> the station has beencompleted and a second large scale innovative project is underway. It combinesart museum facilities and rail maintenance and supply s<strong>to</strong>rage space. In addition amajor high-rise residential development within the perimeter of the His<strong>to</strong>ricElectrical Building and across the street from the station has been built. Severalother developments with commercial and residential units are being constructedwithin walking distance of the rail depot. The station is served by thePacific Surfliners and by Coaster commuter rail as well as the San Diego Trolley,San Diego Transit and Mexicoach buses.Simi Valley – The City of Simi Valley, in partnership with the County of Ventura,is developing a transit village plan near the Simi Valley station. Nearly 650single-family and multi-family homes are currently under development orconsideration in the proposed area. The plan would include a seven-acrecommercial center, a 45-acre park and community center, 40 acres of othercommercial and industrial uses, 75 acres of residential property, and 20 acres ofopen space. The City's multimodal transit station is currently served by Metrolinkcommuter rail, the Pacific Surfliners, Amtrak’s long distance Coast Starlight, citybuses, Los Angeles County buses, San Joaquin Route connecting buses, local taxisand the city's extensive pedestrian/bike trail system.16
