We thought they were beasts and not human.”The defence counsellor stated that he had objections and asked the panelto stick to the indictment allegations in future since the witness todayspoke of the events in which the defendant did not take part and whichtook place after 28 March. Besides this, he underlined Srboljub Biserčić’sresponsibility, which is not the subject of this indictment.It is noted that the defence counsellor and the defendant expressed condolencesto the injured party/witness because of the loss of his family. The defendantapproved of his counsellor’s objections and he added that he didnot shoot at any civilians nor did he shoot the injured party’s family members.He added that he was fulfilling his service and that he would do it inthe future, as well, regardless of the country whose citizen he might be.The defendant asked a question and the witness answered:“I was not taken to this basement where I said my money was taken awayfrom me the same day I was at the cemetery when 1,000 German markswere taken from me.”The defendant stated that the evidence given by this witness today waspartial regarding the behaviour of the Serb police. He thinks that personsresponsible of this should be tried and he agrees that these people whodid this are animals.No further questions.Then the injured party added:“I want to point out the fact that Doctor Tefik Gashi from the mortuary gaveme a document with a list of possessions found on the corpses and thesepossessions were handed over to the Police Inspector Živojin Cvetković.”170
