Humanitarian Law Centerwas Šiljo, whom I know, but I do not know his last name - was really in thatyard. However, I would not like to accuse him or put him in an inconvenientsituation. We had regular military activities in Prolom Banja, just like any other army, but I did not hear anything about who committed this act. There were nopolice officers in Prolom Banja; at least none of them interrogated me. Wespent some ten days in Prolom Banja when Commander Medić spoke to usand told us that we were going back to Vojvodina to return our weaponsand that we would be deployed again after some time. We returned ourweapons in Prolom Banja. The court is demanding that I give a separate statement regarding the pistoland the lighter. I can say the following:After the men, women, and children left these two houses and the yard, asI have already said, in front of the gate, on the street, I found a golden Duponlighter, later on I found out it was a gold lighter. The moment I foundthe lighter was immediately after I shot in the air and these civilians wentdown the street. In that moment, I did not know where Rajko was, but I returnedinside the house to inspect it and I found a pistol, just as I explainedbefore.I took that pistol that I found in this Albanian house to Prolom Banja. Everybodysaw that pistol because I was not hiding it. I was carrying it in theholster. My roommate saw it, too, Platoon Leader Olujić. When we were returningour weapons, I was not the only one who found weapons in Podujevo.I asked Commander Boca what to do with that pistol in the momentwe were practically demobilised. He told me to report the pistol to Srle(Sran Manojlović, who was in charge of the storage and registers), whowould register the pistol and then to take it home with me, as my personalweapon, and at the end of the war we would see what to do with it. Srleregistered the number of the pistol, its brand, and calibre in a special bookand issued a certificate allowing me to carry that pistol. However, that certificatewas practically worthless for me because there is no sense for me, asa member of a counterterrorism unit, to show around the certificate provingthat I have a right to carry a pistol during the war.”64
