Humanitarian Law Centerthing like this had never happened before, we were really in danger of gettingkilled.At the time of the bombing the court was only officially dislocated into theschool, but practically there was nobody in this school because we weretold not to go there after we hear the siren. I did not go to this school. I wasgoing to the real court building even though the court should have beendislocated. The court building is located some 50 metres away from the districtprison building. When I was going to interrogate the defendant in thedistrict prison building, I went from this court building. My court reportercame along with me from this building. After the record from the interrogationof the defendant in Bijelo Polje was presented to me, I state thatit is true that I had the investigation opening request and I presented it tothe defendant.”One of the injured parties’ representatives asked a question and the witnessanswered:“At the time I interrogated Cvjetan in Prokuplje for the first time, beforeand after this interrogation, it was announced that the court building inProkuplje would be bombed. People were panicking and as soon as the sirenwent off, they were all leaving the building and I was the only one whostayed there. I ordered that attorneys Stanković and Šubaranović should bepaid and I personally went into the accounting office and issued an order,three days after the interrogation, underlining that these attorneys sacrificedin order to attend the interrogation and it would be fair to pay them.I knew that I issued an order for Stanković very soon because I rememberthat I ran into him and he told me that he was supposed to go to hospitalsoon. That attorney died several months later. I issued a written order andthe court reporter or the chief accountant typed it.”The defence counsellor asked a question and the witness answered:“If it is noted in the interrogation record composed on 24 May 1999 that Ipresented the investigation order to the defendant, then I had the investigationorder, and if it says I presented a criminal complaint to him, thenthis is what I had.
