excessive exhaust gases containing carbon dioxide (CO2) or carbon monoxide (CO). During slab<br />
placement and curing periods, maximum CO2 levels shall be 4,500 parts per million and maximum CO<br />
levels shall be 15 parts per million at concrete surface within 5 feet of any source of exhaust gases to<br />
minimize potential damage to concrete.<br />
1.8 COORDINATION AND SCHEDULING<br />
A. Pursuant to Article 15 –of the General Conditions, the Owner has the right to perform construction work and to<br />
award separate contracts on the Project site.<br />
B. The construction work and separate contracts on the Project site associated with the floor slab construction may<br />
includeLP cabling, CCTV cabling, Test and Balance, Telecom, Data cabling, and Alarms.<br />
C. Owner Or Separate Contractor Responsibilities: The following provisions are provided as information with<br />
respect to the responsibilities of the Owner or Separate Contractors doing work on, or related to, the building floor<br />
slab construction. The Owner or separate contractors must:<br />
1. <strong>No</strong>tify General Contractor’s superintendent 1 week prior to the start of the work at the job site. Make sure<br />
superintendent has names and contact phone numbers.<br />
2. Assure workmen who will be working on or around the floor slab, view the Owner’s Contractors Training<br />
and Instructional Video and Pre-Slab Conference Video prior to the start of work or installation.<br />
3. Coordinate work and schedule activities with floor slab construction to avoid interference and to minimize<br />
detrimental effects to floor finish. Allowable time to work on the slab is a minimum of 11 days after<br />
placement, provided the contractor follows the installation procedure required. (Day 1 Pour slab, 7 days wet<br />
cure, 2 days clean and dry, 1 day first application of densifier, 2 days dry = 11 days)<br />
4. <strong>No</strong>t walk through or on areas where floor construction or finishing operations are being preformed.<br />
5. Perform precautionary measures to protect floor finish. Inspect machinery used on floor slab daily, at a<br />
minimum, for embedded items in tires; remove items which may damage or scratch floor. Diaper all lifts<br />
and other equipment used on the floor slab. White tires are required on lifts. Take measures to prevent tools<br />
or other items that may cause impact damage, discoloration, or other surface blemishes. Owner or Separate<br />
Contractors are required to provide protection to slab in what ever measures are needed i.e. providing<br />
plywood, carpet, house wrap etc for impact protection. (Plastic sheets are not approved for protection)<br />
Remove or consolidate protection on a regular basis to prevent discoloring.<br />
6. Damage to concrete floor finish determined by Wal-Mart to be the responsibility of the Owner or Separate<br />
Contractor will be repaired in accordance with approved methods, materials, and personnel at the expense<br />
of the Owner or Separate Contractor.<br />
