SECTION 16121 - MANUFACTURED WIRING SYSTEMS<br />

PART 1 - GENERAL<br />

1.1 SUMMARY<br />

A. Section Includes:<br />

1. Manufactured Wiring Systems.<br />

B. Products Installed But <strong>No</strong>t Supplied Under This Section:<br />

1. Owner will furnish prefabricated flexible cable assemblies and required accessories as indicated on Drawings.<br />

2. Contractor shall provide related products required to complete installation.<br />

C. Related Sections:<br />

1. Section 01640 - Owner Furnished Products: General procedures related to Owner furnished products.<br />

2. Section 16100 - Wiring Methods: Wire color coordination.<br />

3. Section 16500 - Lighting: National accounts vendor.<br />

1.2 REFERENCES<br />

1. NFPA 70 - National Electrical Code (NEC).<br />

1.3 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING<br />

A. Provide for delivery of installation drawings and product at such stage of construction as will expedite the Work.<br />

B. Contact selected vendor for product delivery. Allow minimum of four weeks for delivery.<br />

C. Provide proper facilities for handling and storage of materials to prevent damage. Keep materials dry and fully<br />

protected from weather.<br />

D. Upon receipt of shipment, check contents of shipment against bill of material furnished by the selected vendor.<br />

Report any shortages or damage to the selected vendor immediately so that replacements can be ordered and/or<br />

freight claims can be filed. <strong>No</strong>te damage on Bill of Lading in order to substantiate freight claims.<br />

PART 2 - PRODUCTS<br />

2.1 MANUFACTURED WIRING SYSTEMS<br />

A. Prefabricated Flexible Cable Assemblies: Factory pre-assembled units consisting of pre-wired cable assemblies<br />

and appropriate connectors. Units will comply with the following:<br />

1. Cable Assemblies: Flexible armor jacket with thermoplastic insulated, #12 AWG, solid, copper conductors.<br />

Number of conductors in each cable assembly as required by application. Allow minimum of 12 inch<br />

extra length, in addition to required length to reach point to point, for each cable assembly.<br />

2. Connectors: Injection molded thermoplastic compound with up to six copper alloy contact sleeves/pins for<br />

positive contact. Provide connectors with 2 positive locking latches, rated for 20 amps, and designed to<br />

make or break under load. Attachment to cable shall be set screw type.<br />

3. Cable assemblies will be white in color.<br />

4. Wire phase colors will match colors as specified in Section 16100.<br />

5. Cable assemblies and their related accessories shall bear the UL Label.<br />
