2.8 CONCRETE CURING MATERIALS<br />

A. Temporary Film Forming Curing Compound:<br />

1. Eco-Cure by SpecChem.<br />

2. Clear Dissipating Cure EF by Dayton Superior Chemical.<br />

2.9 CONCRETE MIX<br />

A. General:<br />

1. Use only materials and their proportions included on Concrete Mix Design Submittal Forms included at the<br />

end of this section.<br />

2. For integral color concrete, maintain same source of chemical admixtures, coarse and fine aggregates for<br />

entire colored floor slab. Do not change mix proportions of integral color admixture or Portland cement.<br />

3. Measure and mix ingredients in accordance with most stringent requirements of ASTM C94.<br />

4. Ready Mix supplier may proportion materials by field experience or proportion concrete materials by<br />

laboratory trial batches per ACI 318 for strength compliance.<br />

5. Submit copies of data and test results to Wal-Mart Construction Manager and Structural Engineer for<br />

review to verify mix designs.<br />

B. Strength: Minimum compressive strength (F’c) at the end of 28 days shall be 4,000 psi for all cast-in-place interior<br />

concrete slabs, unless indicated otherwise on the drawings.<br />

C. Workability: Concrete shall be of a consistency to be worked readily into forms and around reinforcement without<br />

segregation, voids, or excessive bleeding.<br />

D. Minimum Cementitious Materials Content (Portland Cement and SCM): Use 560 pounds cementitious content<br />

minimum for all interior slab mixes.<br />

E. Water/Cementitious Materials Ratio:<br />

1. Interior Floor Slabs: 0.53 maximum<br />

F. Air-Entraining Admixture: Do not air-entrain interior floor slabs with troweled finish.<br />

G. Time of Setting: Initial setting time shall not exceed 400 minutes as determined by ASTM C 403 for a laboratory<br />

sample representing the submitted mix design, admixture dosages, and concrete temperature of 60°F ± 5°F. Only<br />

one specimen or time of setting test is required per sample. If more than one test is performed per sample, report<br />
