K. Re-Use: The use, in the same or similar form as it was produced, of a material which might otherwise be<br />

discarded.<br />

L. Solid Waste: Putrescible and nonputrescible solid, semisolid, and liquid wastes, including garbage, trash, refuse,<br />

paper, rubbish, ashes, industrial wastes, demolition and construction wastes, abandoned vehicles and parts thereof,<br />

discarded home and industrial appliances, dewatered, treated, or chemically fixed sewage sludge which is not<br />

hazardous waste, manure, vegetable or animal solid and semisolid wastes, and other discarded solid and semisolid<br />

wastes. “Solid Waste” does not include hazardous waste, radioactive waste, or medical waste as defined or<br />

regulated by State law.<br />

M. Source-Separated: Materials, including comingled recyclables, that have been separated or kept separate from the<br />

solid waste stream at the point of generation, for the purpose of additional sorting or processing of those materials<br />

for reuse or recycling in order to return them to the economic mainstream in the form of raw materials for new,<br />

reused, or reconstituted products which meet the quality standards necessary to be used in marketplace.<br />

N. Waste Hauler: A company that possesses a valid permit from the local waste management authority to collect and<br />

transport solid wastes from individual or businesses for the purpose of recycling or disposal.<br />

O. Construction Waste Management Plan (CWMP): The Construction Waste Management Plan identifies the<br />

construction waste diversion expectations including diversion percentages and tons of the targeted materials and<br />

the locations for the legal reuse, recycling, or disposal.<br />

P. C&D Waste and Recycle Program Manager: The individual on site charged with managing the C&D Waste and<br />

Recycle Program for the Contractor. This person does not have to be an employee of the Contractor, but must operate<br />

under the guidance and direction of the Contractor and execute the CWMP.<br />

Q. C&D Training Manual: A site specific training manual that explains the processes and procedures for handling the<br />

C&D Waste and Recycle needs. Contents shall include but are not limited to the following:<br />

1. Materials to be recycled.<br />

2. Materials to be re-used.<br />

3. Materials to be salvaged.<br />

4. CWMP<br />

1.3 PERFORMANCE GOAL<br />

A. The waste management objective is to recycle, reuse, or salvage non-hazardous waste generated by the Work and<br />

to eliminate or minimize the amount of waste going to landfills.<br />

B. The Waste Management Plan does not relieve the Contractor of responsibility for adequate and continuing control<br />

of pollutants and other environmental protection measures, including, but not limited to requirements in Section<br />

01500 or 02370, if specified.<br />

1.4 SELECTION AND PAYMENT<br />

A. Employment and payment for services of a Construction and Demolition Waste Management Vendor (Vendor) for<br />

the collection and disposal of designated construction and demolition waste will be by Wal-Mart.<br />

1. Wal-Mart Vendor: Oakleaf Waste Management, LLC (866) 338-2342 or onsite@oakleafwaste.com.<br />

1.5 RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

A. Wal-Mart Responsibility:<br />

1. Obtain the services of a pre-negotiated Vendor for the collection and disposal of designated construction<br />

and demolition waste.<br />
