Recommended Program of Studies Leading to the Certificate of Specialization<br />

The Painting Illustration Specialization Program is an occupational program in which the<br />

students explore the basic techniques, principles, problems, and theories of art as they relate<br />

to the world of illustration. The student will be able to interpret a wide range of topics and be<br />

able to render a variety of subjects in a variety of medias. Students completing may find<br />

employment as an editorial illustrator, freelance illustrator, as well as a gallery painter.<br />

PASTRY ARTS<br />

Recommended Program of Studies Leading to the Certificate of Specialization<br />

The Pastry Arts Certificate Program prepares the student for assistant positions in the<br />

baking or hospitality industry. The program develops the basic skills necessary for entry into<br />

the job market. This course would focus around yeast breads, quick breads, basic cake decoration,<br />

bakery sanitation and basic equipment usage. Future jobs would include entry level,<br />

baker’s helper jobs, assistant pastry cook, and assistant pastry chef.<br />

The Photography Specialization Program is an occupational program that prepares the<br />

student to become a portrait photographer, freelance photographer, and staff photographer<br />

for large institutions, wedding photographer, photojournalist, and advertising photographer<br />

or studio owner. This program provides the technical training, aesthetic encouragement, and<br />

business practices necessary to begin and/or further the student’s photographic career.<br />
