using TIPS, individuals who serve and sell alcohol can obtain the skills necessary<br />

to effectively respond to drinking situations before they get out of hand. Upon<br />

completion of this program you will be certified in TIPS for three years. Students<br />

who successfully complete the program will receive 5.4 CEU’s.<br />

FLORAL DESIGN PROGRAM<br />

Floral Design is a comprehensive 45-hour program that will train the student<br />

for an entry-level position in the floral business. This course will enhance your<br />

creativity after learning the basics of floral arranging.<br />

In your training sessions you will learn theory and fundamentals of floral arranging,<br />

care and handling of cut flowers, identification of cut flowers and greens,<br />

color coordination, setting up your containers, styles of arrangements and their<br />

origins, use of foundations, knowing your customers’ needs and budget, and sales<br />

techniques. The program will include lecture and “hands-on” practice in the basics<br />

of funeral and wedding work, table centerpieces, get-well arrangements and special<br />

occasions.<br />

This program is open to anyone 18 years of age or older and having a high<br />

school diploma or GED. Since this is a comprehensive training program no previous<br />

training is required. Students who successfully complete this program will receive<br />

a certificate of completion in floral design from Continuing Education and<br />

4.5 CEU’s.<br />

INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN<br />

Industrial Maintenance Technicians are in strong demand in today’s automated<br />

workplace. Members of this trade work in industrial plants installing, troubleshooting,<br />

repairing and maintaining most machines found in an industrial plant, including<br />

conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and robotics. This career field<br />

can be particularly challenging, due to the responsibility of ensuring that production<br />

processes run smoothly and preventing costly breakdowns.<br />

The aim of this program is to prepare individuals for successful entry-level positions<br />

in industry or upgrade their present skills by providing exposure to all aspects<br />

of the manufacturing, production and maintenance needs of industry. Students<br />

will acquire skills through theory, hands-on experience and internships. The<br />

program is divided into separate training modules. To complete the IMT program,<br />

students must complete the following credit-free classes:<br />

Computer Basics<br />

Blueprint Reading<br />

Industrial Electricity – Part I and II<br />

Industrial Motor Controls – Part I, II and III<br />

Instrumentation<br />

Programmable Logic Controllers – Part I and II<br />

Industrial Mechanics<br />

Industrial Electronics – Part I and II<br />

Fluid Power, Pneumatics & Hydraulics<br />

Preventive Maintenance<br />

Internship<br />

For those not working in an industrial setting an internship is required for<br />

completion of this program.<br />
