MAT 112-Technical Mathematics II 5 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
Analysis of the geometry of lines and curves; interpretation of limits of a function;<br />
differentiation and integration as applied to graphs of functions and problems<br />
in technology.<br />
Prerequisite: MAT 111.<br />
MAT 121-College Algebra 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
An advanced course in Algebra. The course is designed as one of the prerequisites<br />
that prepares the student for Calculus. Topics studied include: linear, polynomial,<br />
rational, exponential and logarithmic functions and their graphs, equation<br />
solving and systems of equations. A graphing calculator is required.<br />
Prerequisite: Placement by exam or MAT 105.<br />
MAT 122-Plane Trigonometry 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
A college level course in trigonometry designed as one of the prerequisites that<br />
prepares a student for Calculus. Topics studied include: right triangle trigonometry,<br />
circular trigonometry, trigonometric functions and their graphs, identities, polar<br />
coordinate systems and applications. A graphing calculator is required.<br />
Prerequisite: MAT 105 or MAT 121 or placement by exam.<br />
MAT 125-College Algebra & Trigonometry 5 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
A complete course designed to fulfill both prerequisites for Calculus. Topics<br />
include those covered from MAT 121 and MAT 122. A graphing calculator is<br />

MAT 140-Calculus for Business and the Social Science 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
A practical approach to Calculus that stresses applications to business and economics.<br />
Topics studied include: functions, modeling, rates of change, and applications<br />
of derivatives. A graphing calculator is required.<br />
Prerequisite: Placement by exam or MAT 121.<br />
MAT 151-Analytic Geometry & Calculus I 4 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
A first level College Calculus course. Topics studied include: limits, continuity,<br />
differentiation, and applications of the derivative. The course concludes with an<br />
introduction to anti-differentiation. A graphing calculator is required.<br />
Prerequisites: MAT 121 and MAT 122 or MAT 125.<br />
MAT 251-Analytic Geometry & Calculus II 4 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
A continuation of the topics from Calculus I including integration, and applications<br />
of integration and differentiation. Exponential, logarithmic and hyperbolic<br />
functions are studied. A graphing calculator is required.<br />
Prerequisite: MAT 151.<br />
MAT 252-Analytic Geometry & Calculus III 4 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
A continuation of Calculus I and II. Topics studied include: infinite sequences<br />
and series, vectors, functions of several variables, partial derivatives and multiple<br />
integration. A graphing calculator is required.<br />
Prerequisite: MAT 251.<br />
MAT 260-Discrete Mathematics 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This course is intended to be an introduction to pure or abstract mathematics,<br />
especially as it applies to Computer Science. It is recommended for those majoring<br />
in Mathematics as an introduction to proof, analysis of algorithms, and the underlying<br />
logical structure of mathematics. It is a required course in the Computer Science<br />
curriculum and is recommended for all students interested in software and/<br />
or computer engineering. Topics studied include logic, proofs, sets, relations, functions,<br />
algorithms, counting methods, probability, graph theory and trees.<br />
