CIS 263-Internet Active Server Pages with Visual Basic 3 Sem-Hrs.<br />
This course covers the creation and maintenance of interactive web based applications<br />
and web sites using Active Server Pages.<br />
Active Server Pages are used heavily for creating browser-based applications.<br />
This course will cover concepts via in class discussion, in class examples, and handson<br />
exercise. The course progresses from the creation of simple interactive sites<br />
through the creation of shopping cart style e-commerce applications.<br />
Includes extensive coverage of using Visual Basic as a web based programming<br />
language. Although both client and server side coding is discussed, this course<br />
focuses on the creation of server side programming using Microsoft Active Server<br />
Page technology.<br />
Prerequisite: CIS 156 or CIS 160.<br />
CIS 266-Internet Programming with JAVA 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This course covers creation of Internet based applications using the Java programming<br />
language. This course will cover both server and client side Java concepts.<br />
Concepts covered by this course include JSP (Java Server Pages), Servlets,<br />
JavaBeans, JDBC, Swing, Applet, and network programming.<br />
This course will cover concepts via in class discussion, in class examples, and<br />
hands-on exercise.<br />
Java is the hottest programming technology on the Internet today. In addition to<br />
the creation of Java based web applications using JSP, this course will cover the<br />
creation of both multiuser servers and the network client software needed to connect<br />
to them. Students will create and deploy their own multiuser server software<br />
through our classroom server.<br />
Prerequisite: CIS 156 or CIS 263.<br />
CIS 268-Strategies for Developing E-Business Web Sites 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This course covers the steps needed to web enable a business. This course is<br />
composed to cover three distinct topics, networking, server administration, and<br />
network security.<br />
The course begins with a discussion of networking concepts required to successfully<br />
setup and configure your business network for Internet access. These concepts<br />
will be demonstrated through the setup of a network in the classroom.<br />
Server administration is covered with a focus on providing Internet services,<br />
especially the World Wide Web. Web server installation/configuration and administration<br />
is covered in detail. Each student, through hands-on examples, will setup<br />
and administer their own server in the classroom.<br />
Network security is covered throughout the course. Steps necessary to secure<br />
servers and a network in general are covered in detail. The concepts of a network<br />
firewall, as well as the techniques needed to properly implement a firewall, will be<br />
covered in detail. The details of network security will be demonstrated through the<br />
setup and configuration of a firewall in the classroom.<br />

Corequisites: CIS 240, CIS 242.<br />
CIS 290-Computer Information Systems Projects 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
A team comprised of two or more students will integrate systems analysis, systems<br />
design, programming, and business and information systems concepts, principles<br />
and practices in the development of a computerbased information system.<br />
They will apply technical, managerial, communications and interpersonal skills to<br />
the development of this information system. Formerly IST 222, students cannot get<br />
duplicate credit.<br />
Prerequisites: CIS 110, CIS 150 or CIS 152 and CIS 172.<br />
