<strong>COLLEGE</strong> HEALTH SERVICES<br />

<strong>Luzerne</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Community</strong> College provides health services for students, faculty,<br />

and staff. College Health Services, located on the second floor of the Campus<br />

Center, provides physical and emotional support to students, faculty, and staff at no<br />

charge. College Health Services is directed by a registered professional nurse. Emergency<br />

medical treatment is provided by the registered nurse under the prescribed<br />

protocols of the College physician. College Health Services makes every effort to<br />

have a positive impact on the health experiences of all students, faculty, and staff.<br />

College Health Services provides leadership in seeking new and improved methods<br />

of meeting health needs of the College. Health Services establishes a continuing free<br />

exchange of ideas, information, programs and services with other constituencies of<br />

the College and develops and implements institutional health and safety programs.<br />

FINANCIAL AID<br />

<strong>Luzerne</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Community</strong> College participates in five basic programs to help<br />

students offset the cost of higher education. These include the Federal Pell Grant,<br />

PA State Grant (PHEAA), Federal Stafford Loan, both subsidized and unsubsidized,<br />

Federal College Work Study, and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity<br />

Grant. If you have questions regarding your particular circumstances, contact the<br />

Financial Aid Office at 740-0389. <strong>Luzerne</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Community</strong> College’s Financial<br />

Aid Office is located in Building 5, Room 508. Office hours are normally 8:00 a.m. to<br />

5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Summer hours for appointment purposes may<br />

vary. Please call first.<br />

APPLICATION/GENERAL INFORMATION<br />

All students who wish to be considered for financial aid must complete the Free<br />

Application for Federal Student Aid and the <strong>Luzerne</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Community</strong> College<br />

Financial Aid Application. There is no charge for processing these applications. These<br />

forms are available in the Financial Aid Office at the College. You can also complete<br />

the Free Application for Federal Student Aid on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The Financial<br />

Aid Office will mail the LCCC Financial Aid Application to all full time students.<br />

The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency will mail the Free Application<br />

for Federal Student Aid to all students who took the ACT or SAT exam in their<br />

junior year. The Department of Education will mail applications to all renewal applicants.<br />

Although the College does not have an application deadline, the deadline to be<br />

considered for a PHEAA State Grant is May 1. Please file as early as possible, certain<br />

funding is limited and must be given on first come, first serve basis.<br />

In order to process your applications in a timely fashion, the Financial Aid Office<br />

must receive the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and the LCCC Financial<br />

Aid Application before June 30 of the upcoming academic year. If the above<br />

applications are not received by this date, the Financial Aid Office cannot guarantee<br />

the aid will be processed in time to help pay the tuition bill.<br />

All potentially eligible students must be enrolled in a diploma, certificate or<br />

degree program to be considered for any federal aid. The regulations for state grants<br />

differ, please see the PHEAA State grant section of this catalog for further details.<br />

All students must continuously make academic progress as defined by the institution<br />

as per federal regulation in order to maintain their federal aid. Academic<br />

progress will be reviewed at the end of the Spring Semester of each academic year.<br />

The exception to this will be all students enrolled in programs of less than two (2)<br />

years in length. These students will be reviewed after one major semester of enroll-<br />
