AVIATION<br />
AVI 101-Aeronautical Knowledge I 4 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This course is designed to provide the student with basic knowledge pertaining<br />
to visual flight in the national airspace system. This course is designed to provide<br />
the student with knowledge pertaining to the basic principles of flight, aviation<br />
weather, air traffic control, and navigating procedures in preparation for the FAA<br />
private pilot aeronautical knowledge exam.<br />
Corequisite: AVI 209.<br />
AVI 103-Aeronautical Knowledge II 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
A detailed study of topics treated only superficially in the introductory course<br />
(Aeronautical Knowledge I). The student will apply learned language to the procedures<br />
used by air traffic controllers & pilots, and will study in depth the operators<br />
principles of navigational equipment and services available to system users.<br />
Prerequisite: AVI 101 or instructor permission.<br />
AVI 107-Air Transportation (optional) 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This course is designed to give the student a well rounded view of the air<br />
transportation system. Topics to be covered are, the heritage of flight, the aviation<br />
environment, aerospace system vehicles, the community of aviation and the<br />
future of advanced aerospace systems.<br />
AVI 109-Instrument Flight Theory 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This is an advanced theory course relative to the principles of instrumental flight.<br />
The student upon completion will have adequate knowledge to pass the FAA written<br />
examination for Instrument Rating.<br />
AVI 201-Federal Aviation Regulations/Aviation Law 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This course is designed to provide the student with the principles of law as<br />
applied to business with emphasis on the aviation industry. There will be a detailed<br />
study on the Federal Aviation Regulations.<br />
AVI 204-Aviation Operations Management (optional) 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This course is to provide the student with knowledge about the Aviation/ Aerospace<br />
Management function. Topics that shall be addressed are, facilities planning,<br />
certification requirements, funding processes, personnel development, training,<br />
communications, security/safety programs, and small business operations including<br />
both fixed base operations and private corporate operations.<br />
AVI 205-Commercial Pilot Theory 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This is an advanced theory course relative to the principles of commercial aviation.<br />
The student upon completion will have adequate knowledge to pass the FAA<br />
written examination for Commercial Pilot Certificate.<br />
AVI 207-Multi-Engine Flight Theory (optional) 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This is an advanced theory course relative to the principles of multi-engined<br />
flight. This course will include principles of aircraft structures and power plants.<br />
The student upon completion will have the adequate knowledge for Multi-engine<br />
Rating.<br />
AVI 209-Aviation Weather 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This course is designed to provide the student with the elements of meteorology<br />
which affect aviation. Topics of the course will include air masses, hazardous<br />
aviation weather elements, clouds, temperature, pressure, fronts and the analysis<br />
of weather data for safe flying.<br />
AVI 211-Aerodynamics 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This course will provide the student with principles of the physics of flight,<br />
including the application of airfoils and related criteria.<br />
