INTERIOR DESIGN PROGRAM
The Interior Design Program provides the theoretical foundations and elements
of design while emphasizing and focusing on practical application. This non-degree
program explodes the mystique and myth of interior design, bringing it into
the realm of practicality and understanding.
The program has been designed to provide a thorough foundation in the professional,
technical, and aesthetic aspects of the Interior Decorating field, considered
in a historical, social, and cultural context. Since understanding and communicating
with a client is such an important part of success in this field, the course concentrates
on sociological and psychological aspects of the clients served by this
profession, and their need for comfortable, efficient, and aesthetically satisfying
spaces in which to live, work, and recreate.
As interior design enables people to make a creative and individual statement
within their own environment, many students enroll in the program simply for
their own gratification. The program, however, is of special interest to individuals
seeking a career change or an exciting part-time job.
PHLEBOTOMY TRAINING PROGRAM
The Phlebotomy Training Program is a one-semester, career-training program
consisting of 202 hours conducted over a ten-week period. The program provides
the skills and education needed by an individual seeking employment in the field
while focusing on the techniques for collecting blood samples. In addition to covering
the techniques of collecting and handling blood, the program also provides
training in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and CPR certification.
As part of the training, students will spend 100 hours clinical experience in a local
hospital in addition to classroom experience. Career opportunities include employment
in hospitals, clinics, doctors’ offices, private labs, and home health care agencies.
Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be eligible to sit
for the National Phlebotomy Association certification examination, and will receive
20.2 Continuing Education Units (CEU’s).
PROFESSIONAL MIXOLOGY AND
BAR MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
The Professional Mixology Program is a comprehensive 54-hour program of
Mixology and Bar Management. This program is designed to prepare the student
for a full-time or part-time career in the bartending field. Upon successful completion
of this program, the student will be able to identify, select, purchase, prepare
and serve alcoholic beverages in an intelligent and professional manner. Students
will also learn the proper procedures for storage and handling inventory, bar operations,
merchandising and effective bar control. The Bar Management portion of
the program will concentrate on beverage control, inventory, and pricing methods,
how to order and stock bar equipment and supplies; and how to manage bar employees.
Successful completion of this program will equip the student with the
necessary skills to handle all areas and problems relative to bar operation.
Also included is the TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures by Servers of
Alcohol) program. This program is designed to prevent the abuse of alcohol. By
