BUS 253-First-Line Supervisory Principles 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
Practical experience and analysis of the principles of first-line management is<br />
used to assist the practitioner in becoming the successful key individual of an<br />
organization. A practical approach in the concepts and practices of organization,<br />
human behavior and managerial skills, supervisory duties, and the effects of governmental<br />
and social influences is given. The short incidents and role play are<br />
utilized as significant educational tools. (Spring only)<br />
BUS 260-Legal Aspects for Health Professions 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
To review the major laws which relate to personnel in the health fields. It is<br />
designed for personnel who are, or will be employed, in the health profession.<br />
BUS 261-Business Law I 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
The fundamental principles of commercial law with emphasis on laws of society,<br />
contracts, bailments, personal property; cases relating to topics of discussion<br />
will be utilized to give application to the basic principles.<br />
BUS 262-Business Law II 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
Continuation of Business Law I, including a study of legal principles covering<br />
sales of goods, insurance, suretyship, partnership, corporations, real property, leases,<br />
and bankruptcy.<br />
Prerequisite: BUS 261.<br />
BUS 263-Office Management 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
Modern management principles and practices in the organization, operation<br />
and control of office functions; this includes the study of physical facilities and<br />
office machines; personnel management, including analysis of supervision, training,<br />
job evaluation and wage administration as applied to the office environment.<br />
BUS 265-Principles of Manufacturing and Distribution 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This course examines the twin roles of manufacturing and distribution in our<br />
industrial and business economy. Physical control of both raw materials and finished<br />
products. Distribution of finished product, warehousing and types of distribution<br />
via wholesalers, agents, and distributor to final destination.<br />
CHEMISTRY<br />
CHE 111-Fundamentals of Chemistry 3 Lect., 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This course is intended for non-science majors with little prior knowledge of<br />
Chemistry to aid them in understanding the role of Chemistry in society.<br />
Included in the course are discussion of the metric system, basic laws of Chemistry,<br />
atomic structure, chemical bonding, chemical changes and some organic<br />
chemistry.<br />
CHE 112-Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry 3 Lect., 3 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
This one-semester course is primarily designed as a terminal course for students<br />
in nutritional and medical fields where a basic understanding of organic<br />
chemical reactions is the only requirement. Reaction mechanisms will not be emphasized.<br />
Therefore, this course should not be considered as a sufficient preparation<br />
for chemical, pharmacological or more advanced medical fields.<br />
Prerequisite: Secondary school chemistry or algebra or placement by exam.<br />
CHE 151-General Chemistry I 3 Lect., 3 Lab., 1 Recitation, 4 Sem.-Hrs.<br />
The fundamental principles and theories of chemistry; the period classification;<br />
the nature of atoms; chemical bonding, chemical calculations; the gas laws; solutions<br />
and their colligative properties.<br />
Prerequisite: Secondary School Chemistry or Algebra or placement by exam.<br />
