Tech Prep<br />

NORTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA TECH PREP ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP<br />

Established in 2001 by the Northeastern PA Tech Prep Consortium. Awarded to a<br />

high school senior in the consortium who has completed a PDE approved Tech<br />

Prep program and plans to enroll in a similar program at one of the following:<br />

LCCC; Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Scranton or Hazleton; Lackawanna College; Keystone<br />

College; Johnson College, or a registered apprenticeship program. Applicant<br />

must have successfully completed all of the academic and technical requirements<br />

in their secondary Tech Prep curriculum and show proof of acceptance to a<br />

member post-secondary institution for the fall semester.<br />

III. FINANCIAL NEED<br />

JOSEPHINE CEFALO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />

G.P.A. 2.5 or higher<br />

Established in 2001 by Atty. Michael Cefalo in memory of his beloved mother. He<br />

established this scholarship so that young people can rise up from humble beginnings<br />

to take their place in society, just as his parents did. Like the Cefalos, the<br />

recipient must strive to make the world a better place. Applicant must have unmet<br />

financial need and a strong desire to achieve their goals.<br />

CHOICE ONE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP<br />

Established in 2002 by John Kebles, President of the credit union, to assist students<br />

who have unmet financial need. Applicant must be enrolled in a degreebearing<br />

program at LCCC and have unmet financial need. Preference will be<br />

given to applicants who demonstrate community involvement.<br />

COCA-COLA SCHOLARSHIP<br />

Established in 1999 by the Coca-Cola Corporation located in Pittston. Applicant<br />

must have unmet financial need and be in good academic standing.<br />

FORTINSKY FAMILY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP<br />

Endowed in 2003 by Robert A. & Shirley Fortinsky through the Fortinsky Charitable<br />

Foundations, Inc. Applicant must have unmet financial need and be in good<br />

academic standing.<br />

CURRY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP<br />

Established in 2001 by Francis & Darryl Curry, to assist students who have unmet<br />

financial need.<br />

ALBERT FLORUSS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />

Established in 2003 by Lisa and Frank Owens in memory of Mrs. Owen’s father,<br />

Albert Floruss. Applicant must demonstrate strong community or college involvement<br />

in extra-curricular activities and have unmet financial need.<br />

ABIGAIL M. GEORGE MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP<br />

Established by the LCCC Alumni Association in 1993 in memory of Abigail M.<br />

George, a dedicated volunteer and graduate of <strong>Luzerne</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Community</strong> College.<br />

Applicant must be enrolled full-time and have earned at least 12 credits at<br />

the time of application, be involved in college or community activities and have<br />

unmet financial need.<br />

LCCC ASSOCIATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP<br />

Funded by the LCCC Faculty Association. Applicant must demonstrate financial<br />

need and have completed at least 12 credits. Must be willing to be interviewed.<br />

Contact the Foundation office for deadlines and a separate application.<br />

LCCC FOUNDATION SCHOLARS AWARDS<br />

Funded through the Foundation’s annual fund raising activities. Applicant must<br />

be in good academic standing and have unmet financial need. Special consideration<br />

will be given to students with extenuating or personal circumstances.<br />
