Army (UNLA) with<br />

from the Anyanyas<br />

The Bush War had<br />

a number of direct<br />

and indirect impacts<br />

on people living in<br />

Uganda, both inside<br />

and outside the<br />

Luwero Triangle. In<br />

addition to mass<br />

displacement in the<br />

Luwero Triangle, the<br />

NRA rebellion and<br />

the Government’s<br />

counter-insurgency<br />

measures (led<br />

by the UNLA)<br />

caused large-scale<br />

atrocities and<br />

insecurity across<br />

the country. 167<br />

Some participants noted that the conflict escalated already existing ethnic tensions<br />

between the north and the south of the country. 168 In Bulambuli, participants reported<br />

that because UNLA troops were redirected from their district to fight the NRA, raids by<br />

the Karimojong increased in the eastern region. 169 Participants in Tororo commented<br />
