Participants views on causes and
impacts of displacement
Across the country, participants
explained how regime changes have
been followed by the displacement
of members of the ethnic group of
the outgoing president. In Arua and
Adjumani (the West Nile region), for
example, people explained how they
fled [en masse] across the border to the
DRC and Sudan following the ousting
of President Amin. One participant in
Adjumani said;
“We were
displaced in Sudan after the
overthrow of Idi Amin. The Acholi soldiers were
moving from door to door asking for any soldier who served
