Participants views on causes and<br />

impacts of displacement<br />

Across the country, participants<br />

explained how regime changes have<br />

been followed by the displacement<br />

of members of the ethnic group of<br />

the outgoing president. In Arua and<br />

Adjumani (the West Nile region), for<br />

example, people explained how they<br />

fled [en masse] across the border to the<br />

DRC and Sudan following the ousting<br />

of President Amin. One participant in<br />

Adjumani said;<br />

“We were<br />

displaced in Sudan after the<br />

overthrow of Idi Amin. The Acholi soldiers were<br />

moving from door to door asking for any soldier who served<br />
