- Dietary fat (TG) is digested by bile salts & pancreatic lipase then absorbed from SI in the
form of lipoprotein called (Chylomicron) which is consisted of
o Cover [apolipoproteins + phospholipids].
o Core [triglycerols + cholesterol + cholesterol esters].
- In the blood,by the action of lipoprotein lipase (LPL) enzyme (++ by insulin), chlomycron
is dissociated into FA + Glycerol + chylomicron remnants.
- FA are stored in adepose tissues & muscles where they are used in energy production
- Chylomicrons remnants (apolipoprotein & phospholipid cover + cholesterol &
cholesterol esters core) together with glycerol are re-uptaked by the liver & added to
endogenous TG &cholesterol where formation of other type of lipoproteins takes place
& released to the blood (very low density lipoproteins VLDL) which is formed of
‣ Cover (apolipoprotein + phospholipid)
‣ Core ( cholesterol + high amount of TG)
- In the bood , VLDL under the effect of (LPL) is dissociated into TG (FFAs) [to muscles &
adepose tissues]+ LDL [apoprotein & phospholipid cover + cholesterol & TG smaller
amount than VLDL].
- LDL is transformed into HDL in extrahepatic tissue by consumption of FA TG [HDL =
cover + very low amount of TG]
