Psychotic depression :
- Major depressive episode which is accompanied by ≥ 1 psychotic symptoms e.g :
o Delusions
o Hallucinations ( auditory, visual, olfactory or haptic` touch`).
NB : Anxiety and depression often coexist
• Management of depression :
Psychological : Cognitive behavior therapy.
Pharmacological :
1) Antidepressants
2) Antipsychotics : if delusions &/or hallucination.
3) Electroconvulsive therapy : in very sever depression.

Useful in the management of depression and anxiety disorders
Usually consists of one to two hour sessions once per week
Should be completed within 6 months
Patients usually get around 16-20 hours in total.

c) Combination reuptake inhibitors.
