Duchenne`s muscle dystrophy
- X-linked carrier autosomal recessive with only males are affected.
- Present in early childhood,often in 2 nd year with clumsy gait (clumsiness).
Features :
1. Proximal weakness.
2. Pseudohypertrophy of calf muscles.
3. Wheelchair bound & crippling deformities by the early teens (contractures +
scoliosis)
4. Gower`s sign : the use of upper limbs to push up on the knees to assist with
rising from the floor.
5. Cardiomyopathy.
