Posterior inferior cerebellar artery
Basilar artery
1. Pons including :
- Part of vestibular nucleus
- Motor tracts passing in it
- Abducens nerve nucleus
- Facial n. nucleus
o Nausea,vertigo,headache & vomiting.
o Contralateral hemiparesis.
o Cr 6 palsy : diplopia, conjugate gaze palsy
o Cr7 palsy of LMN type.
o Locked-In Syndrome: patient is awake but is
unable to respond in anyway except by
vertical gaze and blinking (lesion is in ventral
pons) TTT is control of HTN
1. Lateral medulla including
- Cr9,10,11
- Sensory spinal nucleus of Cr5
- Sympathetic fibers to eye
- Spinal leminiscus carrying
pain &temp from opp. Side
2. Inferior part of cerebellum
o Wallenberge syndrome :
A. Brainstem features
- Ipsilateral dysphagia & other bulbar S.
- Ipsilateral facial numbness
- Ipsilateral horner`s syndrome
- Cotralateral sensory loss (Pain&Tem).
B. Cerebellar features
- Ataxia .
- Nystagmus .
