Cryptosporidium :<br />

سؤال - It`s the most common cause of diarrhea in HIV patient<br />

- It`s an intracellular protozoon with IP = 7days.<br />

- Diagnosed by acid fast stain of stool red cyst of cryptosporidium<br />

- TTT : mainly supportive + Nitazoxinide.<br />

Mycobacterium avium :<br />

- Atypical mycobacterium seen with HIV patient with CD4 count < 50.<br />

- Features : fever ,sweating , abdominal pain & diarrhea.<br />

- Diagnosis : Blood C/S & BM examination.<br />

- TTT : Rifampicin ,ethambutol & clarythromycin .<br />

Kapoosi sarcoma in HIV :<br />

سؤال (HHV-8). - Caused by Human herpes virus 8<br />

- Purple plaques on skin or mm of GIT & resp. tract<br />

o Skin lesions ulcerate.<br />

o Massive hemoptysis & pl.effusion<br />

o GI bleeding.<br />

- TTT : Radiotherapy + resection<br />

Pneumocystis carnii pneumonia (PCP)<br />

- The most common opportunistic infection in HIV<br />

- Its mainly a fungus but may be classified as protozoa<br />

- All patients with HIV with CD4
