Cryptosporidium :
سؤال - It`s the most common cause of diarrhea in HIV patient
- It`s an intracellular protozoon with IP = 7days.
- Diagnosed by acid fast stain of stool red cyst of cryptosporidium
- TTT : mainly supportive + Nitazoxinide.
Mycobacterium avium :
- Atypical mycobacterium seen with HIV patient with CD4 count < 50.
- Features : fever ,sweating , abdominal pain & diarrhea.
- Diagnosis : Blood C/S & BM examination.
- TTT : Rifampicin ,ethambutol & clarythromycin .
Kapoosi sarcoma in HIV :
سؤال (HHV-8). - Caused by Human herpes virus 8
- Purple plaques on skin or mm of GIT & resp. tract
o Skin lesions ulcerate.
o Massive hemoptysis & pl.effusion
o GI bleeding.
- TTT : Radiotherapy + resection
Pneumocystis carnii pneumonia (PCP)
- The most common opportunistic infection in HIV
- Its mainly a fungus but may be classified as protozoa
- All patients with HIV with CD4
