C. Cerebellum :<br />

o It lies behind the brain stem & occupies most of posterior cranial fossa.<br />

o It`s composed of 2 cerebellar hemispheres connected in the middle by central<br />

portion called “vermis”.<br />

o It`s concerned with coordination of voluntary motor activity & maintenance of<br />

equilibrium.<br />

Anatomy of spinal cord<br />

- It lies in the spinal canal & ends at the lower border of L1 vertebra.<br />

- It`s formed of grey matter (cells) surrounded by white matter.<br />

- In a transverse section , the grey matter is H-shaped (2 anterior, 2 posterior horns &2<br />

lateral).<br />

- 31 pairs of spinal nerves are attached to the spinal cord (8 cervical,12 th ,5L , 5S , 1<br />

cox),each spinal nerve is attached to spinal cord by 2 roots (anterior”motor” &<br />

posterior”sensory”).<br />
