2. ABCD2 score ≤ 3:
Specialist assessment within 1 week of symptom onset, including decision
on brain imaging.
If vascular territory or pathology is uncertain, refer for brain imaging.
3. People with crescendo TIAs ( ≥ 2 episodes in a week):
should be treated as being at high risk of stroke, even though they may
have an ABCD2 score of ≤ 3.
2ndry prevention of TIA (NICE December 2010)
1. Aspirin + Dipyridamol MR ( 1 st choice , unlimited duration)
[clopidogril is not recommended]
2. Dypyridamole MR alone : Only if ASA is not tolerated or contraindicated.
Unlimited duration.
